The Mincio River Route and the Mincio Park: What to do and see

In Pozzolo, the Mincio River divides into the discharge channel and the main branch that continues towards Goito. This division reduces the force and power of the river passing through Goito. Only by following the main branch will you remain within the Mincio Park.

A beautiful deviation from the Mincio Cycle Path will take you to Goito, a small town crossed by the Mincio.

Cyclists starting from Peschiera del Garda to ride the Mincio Cycle Path usually reach Borghetto (14km) or Mantua (42km). However, there is also a third option that represents a middle ground in terms of route length: Goito (approximately 30 km).

The municipality of Goito, the birthplace of the poet Sordello, is known for its history linked to the Risorgimento events. During the First War of Independence, the Battle of the Goito Bridge was the first real clash between the Piedmontese and the Austrians. It was also the first battle in which the bersaglieri corps participated. Today, traces of this glorious past are still visible in the architecture and monuments that adorn the historic center, such as the bersagliere monument.
